Setup
Process for Captions and Subtitles
- Depending on what your specific project requires, we would need to receive a video master delivered to us or a digital video file uploaded to our FTP site or sent on CD disk.
- If you need a video master that is captioned, we would need a video master with continuous time code. In addition, we would require a VHS with vertical interval time code or LTC, with time code recorded on channel 2 and narration on channel 1.
- If you want to work digitally for a DVD project or use the latest technology (read the article on this website) for your broadcast to be captioned, we would need to receive a digital file uploaded to our FTP site. We would require the digital file to be a QuickTime, WMV or an MPEG.
- We need a verbatim script emailed. Or, if you need our transcription services, we can offer those to you for your project.
- Once we have the video and script elements we produce your specific caption and/or subtitle file.
- After we produce a caption/subtitle file, a VHS open caption approval copy or a subtitle file is produced for your review. Or, if you like, we can email a final caption/subtitle script for review. We will send you this document or video for you and/or your clients to approve and make corrections, if needed. We incorporate these corrections prior to the final process of exporting a caption or subtitle file or producing a captioned video master.
- A captioned video master is produced with broadcast quality specs. Or a caption/subtitle file can be exported to a specific DVD authoring system or for your NLE system. We can export caption and/or subtitle files to accommodate most authoring systems. Such as, .cc, .scc, .stl, ..son, and more. Call to confirm details.
- Turnaround time is discussed to accommodate your production schedule.
- Please call to discuss the logistics for any webcast or real-time writing project.
